Espresso martini on table with coffee beans on side

1. Espresso Martini

Let's kick things off with the first thing that comes to mind when we think coffee and alcohol. The classic Espresso Martini is the perfect excuse to get your coffee kick in later on in the day. And what's even better is that this coffee recipe is super easy and doesn't need a lot of ingredients.

All you need is:

  • Ice cubes
  • Vodka 40mL
  • Kahlua 20mL
  • Espresso 20mL
  • Coffee beans (to garnish cause why not if you've got it)
  • Cocktail shaker and strainer
  • Martini glass - or any glass it will still taste the same

To make:

Put all the ingredients in the cocktail shaker then fill with ice cubes. Close off the shaker and shake the mixture vigorously (this creates the foam). Then, strain the cocktail into a glass and garnish with your coffee beans.

Some tips we have:

If you don't have a cocktail strainer, just use a sieve 👍

Use cold espresso shots instead of hot 👍

Want it a little bit sweeter? Just add a little sugar syrup before shaking 👍

We recommend using a darker stronger roast of coffee to balance out the alcohol taste 👍

Tiramisu with fork on a plate

2. Tiramisu

Another classic recipe that never fails...Tiramisu. We included this recipe as it is the perfect dessert to share and we are all about sharing the love of amazing local coffees. Whats even better is that theres no baking time it just needs to chill in the fridge!

All you need is:

  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone
  • 1 3/4 cup espresso (approximately 14.5 shots of coffee!)
  • 2 tbsp rum or cognac
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 24 lady fingers
  • 20cm x 20 cm dish

To make:

1. Using an electric mixer, mix the egg yolks and 1/4 cup of sugar until the mixture has tripled in size. Set this aside. (use a large bowl for this as we will be adding more later)

2. In a new bowl whip the rest of the sugar and the heavy cream until peaks form. Then whip in the mascarpone until a spreadable mixture is formed. Now fold this mixture into the egg yolk and sugar mixture from before.

3. Place the espresso and rum in a separate bowl (large enough bowl for ladyfingers to be dipped in).

4. Dust half the cocoa powder in the bottom of the baking dish.

5. Now its time to layer our tiramisu. Dip the ladyfingers one at a time in the espresso mixture and lay flat in baking dish until the bottom is covered. Spread a layer of the cream mixture and repeat. Dusting cocoa powder on top of the dessert when done.

6. Cover the dessert in cling wrap and let it chill for between 4-24 hrs (the longer the better!)

7. Enjoy and share.
