About this coffee

Discover Perth's Best Roasters - One Month at a Time

This month we're featuring Singular Roasters, a small team of coffee fanatics roasting out of Carlisle with coffee bars in Northbridge and the city. Each coffee in the lineup suits a different way of drinking. The September rotation also includes the Single Origin of the Month and Decaf of the Month, both worth a look alongside this feature.

What you'll find here is a focused look at what Singular does well. A rotating seasonal blend that stays smooth while it keeps you guessing. A vanilla coffee that still tastes like coffee. And a dark, heavy-hitting cup that announces itself.

A focused selection. One roaster. Built for the way you already drink.

This Month's Selection

Bodyslam
Dark Roast | Chocolate, Caramel, Vanilla & Hazelnut
The bold one. A heavy-hitting blend of PNG, Brazilian and Ugandan beans roasted dark for deep chocolate, caramel, vanilla and hazelnut. Built to cut clean through milk, so your flat white tastes like coffee first. For drinkers who want a serious, punchy cup with no apologies in it.

Seasonal (updated for Spring)
Medium Roast | Milk Chocolate, Cinnamon, Hazelnut & Plum
The smooth one. A rotating mix of Papua New Guinean, Brazilian and Ethiopian beans, built around milk chocolate and toasted hazelnut, with cinnamon warmth and a lift of plum to keep it interesting. Forgiving if your dial-in drifts, and holds its own black if you want to taste the fruit. Made for anyone who wants a reliable everyday cup that never quite sits still.

Black Vanilla
Medium-Dark Roast | Milk Chocolate, Vanilla & Berries
The vanilla coffee that still tastes like coffee. Silky milk chocolate and a real vanilla sweetness, with a berry brightness that keeps it from turning one-note. Balanced enough for espresso and milk, and surprisingly good over ice in warmer months. For drinkers who want comfort with a bit of polish.

Love my subscription!

“I love the Roaster of the Month box - so far I have had three boxes and they have all been a success! Shipping is SO fast, the beans are very fresh, and I love that I'm getting to experience local roasters all over Perth! It's also super easy to edit the amount I want each month. Would recommend!”

In milk

In milk, expect the smooth side: chocolate, caramel and a bit of nuttiness through a flat white or latte.

Black

Black, they open up with more range, from rich and bold to a brighter, fruitier lift depending on the roaster.

I've been receiving the Roaster of the Month box for over two years now and I've never been disappointed with any of the coffee supplied.

A starting point for every coffee in this box

Dialled in on a Breville Barista Express

Dose
16.5g of fresh grounds in the basket
Yield
36-38g of espresso in the cup
Time
28 to 32 seconds, timed from the first drop
Grind
Fine, like caster sugar. Bitter and slow? Go a touch coarser. Sour and fast? A touch finer.

Tip: Start here. Not quite right? Change one thing — usually the grind — and tomorrow's cup is better. Today's is still fresh coffee.

Questions about this coffee

Where does this sit for strength?
Every coffee we list sits somewhere on a range from gentle to punchy. Check the roast level above, or ask us and we'll place it for you.
How fresh is this coffee?
Our roasters roast fresh for us in small batches, and we usually dispatch within 1 to 2 business days. Coffee actually improves for the first week or so after roasting, then holds well sealed. The roast date is on the bag.
What if I don't like it?
Tell us what didn't work and we'll help you find something closer to your taste. Full policy in our help centre.
Will this work with my machine?
Yes. If you're pulling espresso, the Starting Point above gives you a dose, yield and shot time to begin from. Every machine and grinder is a little different, so expect to adjust from there.
