For July, we are pleased to announce Karvan as our featured roaster. Karvan is a small batch roastery based in Bibra Lake, Western Australia.
Karvan Coffee have been consistently roasting award winning coffee for 12 years under the guidance of owners Brad and Fleur Cassidy.
Female coffee roasters are very unrepresented globally so Karvan are thrilled to have two of the very few female roasters in Western Australia on their team.
Marte is their head roaster and Savannah is their Q-grader/roaster. Brad and Fleur absolutely believe that these are two of the best in the business. With both ladies incredible passion for coffee showing through in the amazing coffees they source and roast. I think it is safe to say Karvan feel very lucky to have them on their team.
We caught up with Head Roaster Marte to learn more and sneak in a coffee 😉
How did your journey start Marte?
Marte arrived to Australia in early 2013 from Norway on an adventure that still is very much unfolding to this day. She settled in Perth and has found a new family and friends along the way.
Entering the coffee industry she found that coffee culture was quite different from the one she knew in Scandinavia.
Albeit massive coffee consumers, the people in the northern hemisphere rarely line up for their cuppa. They drink most of their coffee brewed at their own home, and it’s not unheard of to offer guests coffee at 6pm!
What are your proudest roasts
I really enjoy roasting new coffees I’ve never roasted before and are always chasing a different variety, process, or origin that is new to me.
Last year Karvan’s Christmas blend had a naturally processed bean infused with cinnamon in it. It was Christmas in a cup, pure fun! I am also hoping that your coffee community will love the Rwanda Nyamiyaga Natural as it is a stunning espresso.
I think coffee should be for all – not pretentious or judgemental but approachable.
We are proud to be able to offer our coffee community these delicious coffees, whether you prefer a light and bright filter roast or a rich and dark espresso roast, Karvan has something to suit your taste and we know you will enjoy them as much as we do!
This month we will be offering our coffee community these 4 delicious Karvan coffees in our Karvan Tasting Box and for Individual purchase.
We can't wait for you to try all 4 of these coffees and we hope you enjoy them as much as we are!
Blend #4:

Since Karvan Coffee's introduced the Blend #2 into the specialty coffee world they have continued to stir excitement, attention and praise.
You will taste sweet notes of caramel, milk chocolate with a hint of juicy fruits Blend #2 is a multi-award winning coffee that has stood the test of time, consistently winning awards over the last decade.
Introducing the Ecuadorian! This delicious, small batch coffee is perfect for those who appreciate the finer things in life.
Sourced from the mountainous, fertile regions of Ecuador, this coffee is full-bodied and bursting with flavor. You'll taste notes of pear, golden syrup, and raisins in every cup.
Karvan's Rwandan is the perfect coffee for those who enjoy single origin coffees with a unique flavor profile.
This Rwandan coffee is small batch and tastes like blackberries, walnut and tea, with a finish that is like no other.
