About this box

Best Single Origins of 2026

The coffees that show you what coffee actually is.

Here's what happened when we asked our community to vote for their favourite single origins:

Papua New Guinea beat Ethiopia. Ethiopian Guji beat Indonesian Sulawesi. Brazil came in fourth but got the most "now I get it" messages.

Because single origins don't hide behind blending. They can't. Each bag tastes exactly like where it's from, which means you finally understand what volcanic soil does versus natural processing versus high-altitude brightness.

This box is four very different coffees from four different countries. Not necessarily to find your favourite, but to understand what coffee can be when it stays true to its origin.

Geography isn't coffee nerd trivia. It's the entire flavour map.

Why single origins instead of blends?

Our #1 coffee this year was a blend. Blends are great. Blends are consistent. Blends win awards.

But blends hide what single origins reveal.

Papua New Guinea doesn't taste like Ethiopia. Ethiopia doesn't taste like Brazil. And once you taste them side by side, you stop saying "I like medium roast" and start saying "I love volcanic-soil chocolate" or "give me that natural-process berry sweetness."

That's not coffee snobbery. That's just knowing what you like.

This box gives you four proven winners from four different countries. Four chances to figure out what geography does to your cup. Four coffees that taste like somewhere instead of something safe.

Note: due to green bean shortage, Alaka was replaced by Pique-Sulawesi

What's in the box

3 Bears Craft Coffee - PNG Okapa - Single Origin | Perth Coffee Exchange

PNG

3 Bears Craft Coffee

Medium roast

Chocolate, Tropical

First place in the Home Coffee Awards. Won because customers kept reordering it, which is the real vote. Nostalgic chocolate biscuit lifted by bright tropical fruit.

Pique Coffee - Ethiopia Alaka Single Origin | Perth Coffee Exchange

Pique Ethiopia Alaka

Pique

Medium roast

Raspberry, Mandarin, Chocolate

Second place. Proof Ethiopia can taste like a fruit basket and still stay balanced. Raspberry and mandarin over dark chocolate, from Guji.

Single Origin: Luko Ethiopia Guji | Perth Coffee Exchange

GPNT Luko

GPNT

Medium roast

Chocolate, Malt, Orange

Third in voting, first in brew-this-every-day reviews. Orange marmalade, malt and chocolate. Bright without sharpness, impossible to screw up.

Kaltiva - Brazilian Single Origin

Brazilian Single Origin

Kaltiva

Omni roast

Black Forest Chocolate, Cherry

Fourth place. Sul de Minas dessert vibes, naturally processed. Pecan pie, chocolate brownie and maple syrup smoothness however you brew it.

Four single origins that won their category in 2026. Distinct origins, all of them voted for, none of them safe picks.

Four roasters, one box.

Most coffee boxes and subscriptions come from a single roastery. PCX curates across 25+ WA roasters, so one order compares WA's best side by side, roasted fresh, delivered once.

A starting point for every coffee in this box

Dialled in on a Breville Barista Express

Dose
16.5g of fresh grounds in the basket
Yield
36-38g of espresso in the cup
Time
28 to 32 seconds, timed from the first drop
Grind
Fine, like caster sugar. Bitter and slow? Go a touch coarser. Sour and fast? A touch finer.

Tip: Start here. Not quite right? Change one thing — usually the grind — and tomorrow's cup is better. Today's is still fresh coffee.
