Offshoot Coffee Returns — Our Featured Perth Roaster for June 2026
Offshoot Coffee has been one of Perth's quieter specialty roasters since setting up on Hay Street in 2018. Their philosophy hasn't shifted much in the years since: source exclusive, well-chosen coffees and roast them with attention. We've worked with them before. They're back as our Roaster of the Month for June, with a lineup spanning their range — three blends, two single origins, and a decaf — covering most of how people actually drink at home.
Built for Consistency
Offshoot roasts on a Loring S15 Falcon Smart Roaster. The Loring uses hot air rather than a direct flame as its heat source, which produces a noticeably cleaner cup and gives the roaster more control over consistency batch to batch. It's also significantly more efficient — recycling its own energy to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 80% compared to traditional roasting systems.
The equipment matters because the cup matters. It's part of how Offshoot gets the consistency they're known for.
A Word from Head Roaster Rummy Keshet
We caught up with Offshoot's head roaster Rummy Keshet about how he ended up here.
Where does your passion for coffee come from?
"As a musician, I've always been captivated by the connection between artists, craftsmen, and the people who appreciate their work. Coffee has a lot in common with music — different styles, brewing techniques, devoted followings. Great coffee doesn't happen by chance. It's the result of people working together across the supply chain: farmers, exporters, roasters, baristas, and the customers who care enough to notice. Sometimes it feels like coffee is just an excuse to bring people together."

This Month's Selection
Six Offshoot coffees across three categories.
Blends
- Workhorse Medium Roast | Cacao & Caramel The dependable one. A full-bodied Colombian and Papua New Guinea blend with bold cacao depth and a smooth caramel sweetness underneath. Built for everyday brewing rather than special occasions — holds up black or with milk, and stays interesting cup after cup.
- Offshoot x PCX Blend Medium Roast | Milk Chocolate, Caramel & Dried Berries Our collaboration blend with Offshoot. Natural Ethiopian and washed Papua New Guinea coffees brought together for a cup that handles black and milk equally well. Milk chocolate and caramel form the base, lifted by a soft dried-berry note on the finish.
- Hercules Medium-Dark Roast | Chocolate & Roast Undertones The heaviest cup in the lineup. Traditional chocolate depth and a roasted edge, built for espresso with milk or anyone who wants more weight in the morning brew. Balanced rather than burnt — strong, not sharp.
Single Origins
- Dimtu (Ethiopia) Light Roast | Berry, Date & Stone Fruit A natural-process Ethiopian, dried slowly on raised beds to deepen the fruit. Berry and stone fruit lead, with date sweetness sitting underneath. Best on filter or as a black coffee — the profile carries enough detail that milk would flatten it.
- Pequeñas Fincas (Colombia) Medium Roast | Gala Apple, Golden Raisin & Sugarcane A clean, bright Colombian sourced from premium smallholder lots across Huila. Crisp apple and golden raisin sit over a steady sugarcane sweetness. Easy to drink from the first cup, with enough character to hold attention through the bag.
If single origins are usually where you start, our Single Origin of the Month feature picks a fresh one from a different roaster every month.
Decaf
- Decaf Popayan (Colombia) Premium Decaf | Caramel Richness & Tropical Brightness Decaf that doesn't drink like an afterthought. Offshoot's processing holds onto more of the original flavour than most decaf methods — caramel sweetness with a tropical fruit lift on the finish, both of which usually disappear when the caffeine does. A full-bodied Colombian base, worth choosing on purpose rather than by default.
For more options in this category, our Decaf of the Month feature rotates a different decaf each month, picked the same way.
Beyond the Cup
Offshoot's approach is consistent across what they do: source coffees worth talking about, roast them carefully, and let the supply chain do the rest of the work. As Rummy puts it:
"From our producers to our customers, we maintain a passion to create a flavour experience that transcends the cup. It's knowing this coffee has been cared for all the way through the supply chain. It's the relationships we build that make it special. Sometimes it feels like great coffee is just an excuse."
You don't have to take that on faith. The cups speak for themselves.
