About this coffee

A Colombian decaf with its character left exactly where it was

Decaf | Dried Fruit, Caramel & Mellow Acidity

From Huila, nestled between the Central and Eastern Andes in the Magdalena Valley, where elevation and climate build complex, nuanced flavour. Most of the producers here are smallholders farming less than three hectares, which means careful attention to every cherry.

The decaffeination uses a sugarcane-based ethyl acetate process, a natural and gentle method. The beans are steamed to open their pores, soaked in a solution that selectively removes the caffeine, then re-steamed to clear any trace of the process, leaving the flavour intact. In the cup: mild dried fruit, caramel sweetness and a mellow acidity with real complexity behind it. One for drinkers who want their evening cup to taste like their morning one.

The roaster

Good Seeds

West Perth

Good Seeds roast hand-selected coffees from around the world at their Gordon Street roastery and coffee bar in West Perth. They like to show the whole journey from farm to cup, with the growers front and centre on every coffee.

Sugarcane process is the decaf method that respects the coffee. This one keeps its fruit and caramel, and nobody at the table will pick it as decaf.

Time
28 to 32 seconds, timed from the first drop

Questions about this coffee

What's this decaf actually like?
Mild dried fruit and caramel with a mellow, complex acidity. Decaffeinated with the sugarcane ethyl acetate process, so the flavour stays where it was.
Where does this sit for strength?
This is a gentle one. Mellow and smooth, more about sweetness than punch, and it still holds its own in a flat white.
How fresh is this coffee?
Our roasters roast fresh for us in small batches, and we usually dispatch within 1 to 2 business days. Coffee actually improves for the first week or so after roasting, then holds well sealed. The roast date is on the bag.
What if I don't like it?
Tell us what didn't work and we'll help you find something closer to your taste. Full policy in our help centre.
Will this work with my machine?
Yes. If you're pulling espresso, the Starting Point above gives you a dose, yield and shot time to begin from. Every machine and grinder is a little different, so expect to adjust from there.
