About this coffee

For drinkers who want the cup to actually taste of fruit.

Medium Roast | Berries, Stone Fruit & Dates

A natural-process Ethiopian from the Gizaw washing station in Guji, dried slowly on raised beds to push the fruit deep into the bean. Expect vibrant berry up front and a rich date sweetness, not the nutty or chocolatey notes you get from a blend.

It is a medium roast, so all that fruit stays intact and it still pulls a forgiving espresso. The fruit carries through milk too, so a flat white tastes of the coffee, not just the milk.

Offshoot Coffee

Perth CBD

Offshoot grew out of Mary Street Bakery, the crew behind some of Perth's favourite pastries, and they treat coffee with the same care.

When you're ready to try something a little different from your usual, start here.

If you have only ever had chocolatey blends, a natural Ethiopian like this is the one that shows you what fruit in coffee actually means.

Espresso starting point

Dialled in on a Breville Barista Express

Dose
16.5g of fresh grounds in the basket
Yield
36-38g of espresso in the cup
Time
28 to 32 seconds, timed from the first drop
Grind
Fine, like caster sugar. Bitter and slow? Go a touch coarser. Sour and fast? A touch finer.

Tip: Start here. Not quite right? Change one thing — usually the grind — and tomorrow's cup is better. Today's is still fresh coffee.

Questions about this coffee

Where does this sit for strength?
This sits at the gentler end of our range. Lighter and brighter than most, at its best black or in a smaller milk drink.
How fresh is this coffee?
Our roasters roast fresh for us in small batches, and we usually dispatch within 1 to 2 business days. Coffee actually improves for the first week or so after roasting, then holds well sealed. The roast date is on the bag.
What if I don't like it?
Tell us what didn't work and we'll help you find something closer to your taste. Full policy in our help centre.
Will this work with my machine?
Yes. If you're pulling espresso, the Starting Point above gives you a dose, yield and shot time to begin from. Every machine and grinder is a little different, so expect to adjust from there.
